Letters to USD - Page 8

79. ---------------------------

Dear President Lyons,

I am most concerned and disturbed to read about a coming scandalous and sacrilegious event scheduled for the Easter octave at the University of San Diego, as published in the California Catholic Daily.  Perhaps you have seen it ... http://calcatholic.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?id=b808118b-2b0b-4133-a542-84a5c2b3080f

If I may:  How does this event advance the spiritual health of the student body?  How does this support the teachings of the Catholic faith concerning the intrinsic immorality of sexually perverse acts?  How does this benefit the souls of those who struggle with same-sex attraction and sexual disorders, whose souls are precious to the Lord, who are called to chastity just as the unmarried are?  How is it that you set the university at odds with the Magisterium of the Catholic Church at a time during with the mystical body of Christ faces so much adversity at the hands of our federal government?  Please, I and others would like to know.

In the event of non-response, I will be publishing this widely on behalf of the souls of your students toward whom the University of San Diego appears to be indifferent.  We, the mystical body of Christ, however, cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of our brothers and sisters.

I will be directly contacting their excellencies, bishops Brom and Flores, concerning the scandal that your university is giving their sheep and regarding the immensely bad publicity that your university is giving our sacred diocese.  I will be contacting many others and encouraging them to do so as well.  In the meanwhile, I hope that you and your staff have already reconsidered permitting this event at a Catholic school, and I also remind you that Holy Week is the best time of the year for doing public penance for public sin and in reparation for public scandal.  Primarily, I will be contacting my God through my prayer, fasting, and almsgiving this Holy Week, that the grace of the Holy Spirit may descend upon you and your university that the administration may realize the error in permitting such an event.  Xavier University recently dropped contraceptive coverage for its employees, so I have great hope and confidence in the power of the God and Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

To whom it may concern:

I refuse to associate myself with any institution of higher learning that calls itself "Catholic" and has not apologized for holding a drag show on campus, and begun to repent.  May God have mercy on the souls of the participants and of the cowardly Catholics who stood idly by and allowed this to happen.  Satan is alive, well and active at USD.  How tragic!  What a hurt this must be for Jesus.  How this blasphemy could happen is simply unfathomable.  What good is worldly "success" when you lose your immortal soul?  Go in peace and sin no more.

With heartfelt dismay and disapproval,

Re: University of Supporting Drags

Dear President Mary Lyons, faculty, and religious on campus of USD:

I attended USD in 1984, upon graduating from High School, my first choice among colleges across the
country. I was in the pre-med and pre-law programs at USD, and on a shoestring budget being from
Dayton, Ohio, but hoping, with some top-of-the-line grades, I?d be able to get enough financial
support to stay at USD. It wasn?t meant to be as I was forced to return to my hometown in Dayton, UD,
to finish my schooling Summa Cum Laude, and, choosing law over medicine, I went on to Harvard Law
School, Cum Laude. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Theology at the University of Notre Dame. I
never forgot the beautifully blessed campus, the chapel I attended every morning to the most
delightful weather. I now am married with six children in South Bend, Indiana and do not hesitate to
speak warmly of USD, including the prospects of my children attending school there.

So what a drag it was for me to hear this story on Catholic radio in South Bend, Indiana, as I was
driving with my family, that Satan?s curriculum had infiltrated every aspect of USD except for some of
its devout students. Priests scoffing at other priests speaking the truth . . . really? My face must
have been fire-engine red with embarrassment. In such a situation, there is nothing to talk about. You
see, my family?s discourse is only the terms of truth. So there cannot be any supercilious discussion
about the 'intellectual value" of parading the sinful elements of the culture of death. But one thing
is for sure, USD will never come up as a potential source of education for my children or anyone I
know, nor, will it be a university I will claim as one I have attended.

And yet the secularists far outnumber me and my family and hence I doubt my position is any cause for
you to conversion. Maybe another line of persuasion will move you, however. Please consider the impact
on your eternal soul. You are leading those who will listen or those who are passively impressionable
down the path of sin. You know what Sacred Scripture says about those that lead others astray. Not
good. Those that He has put in the position to lead others to God, will pay the ultimate price for
leading them to Satan instead. Repent and believe in the Gospel!

By the grace of God, I am,

Subject: Drag show

Mr. Limandri,

I am a USD Alum, Class of 1995 and attended USD between 1991 and 1995 and just heard about the Drag
Show at USD tonight. I am both saddened and shocked as to what has happened at the University of San
Diego over the years. When I toured USD as a high school senior in 1990 the thing that appealed most
to me was the fact that it Is a Catholic university and stood for Catholic values going back to its'
founding in 1949.

This drag show is a result of years of promoting 'diversity' which has caused the university to drift
from its' original mission. The question, how, do we the university back on track? I dont have the
answers but I think as alumni we have to figure out a way or else the university will continue to go
in the wrong direction.

This Saturday I will be attending a panel at USD to speak to high school students and their parents
for the Spring College Visitors Alumni Career Panel and I am not sure what to say about the Drag show
if that subject comes up. Parents who want to send their children to USD will almost certainly have an
opinion on the Drag show. It will be interesting. Hopefully we can help the university get back to
its' Catholic roots.

Thank you for your time USD Class of 1995

Respectfully to all,

As parents of two future Catholic College students, I am afraid to say that we will NOT consider USD
as an option if this show is not canceled.

I'm disgusted at this 'Drag Event' to be held in direct conflict with Catholic teaching. Are you or
are you not a Catholic University? For folks like yourselves in a position to spread the Catholic
faith truthfully I can only question your leadership position. I suppose it's easier for you to follow
the Politically Correct disorder than defend our Catholic Faith.

In Christ our Lord,

You have to be kiddingl!! You do you think you are fooling? This is not an informative show. Everyone
knows what drag queens are. Remember.......LOVE the sinner, CONDEMN the sin !!! This show was
completely unnecessary. As a Catholic parent, I am appalled at today?s Catholic colleges? actions. I
fear for the future of our children and the Catholic faith. Too bad you did not have the fortitude to
stand up to the homosexual community and condemn this show. I am forwarding this article to everyone I
know. I hope it will be the shot heard around the world.

God be with you,
