Subject: New paper on gender-identity therapy, from The New Atlantis
A paper released today, “Growing Pains: Problems with Puberty Suppression in Treating Gender Dysphoria,” questions both the safety and effectiveness of hormone treatments that prevent the normal progression of puberty in children with gender identity challenges. Often presented as compassionate and reversible, puberty suppression is in fact radical and experimental—yet is being applied in an uncontrolled and unsystematic manner as gender-identity clinics open for business in the United States and elsewhere.
The paper appears in the Spring 2017 issue of The New Atlantis and is a follow-up to Lawrence Mayer and Paul McHugh’s widely read 2016 report, “Sexuality and Gender: Findings from the Biological, Psychological, and Social Sciences.” Please join us, through your own networks and social media, in promoting this important article.
